What Is a Firefighting Water Tanker?
A firefighting water tanker (fire truck tanker) is a specialized vehicle-mounted water tank system designed for fire response, equipped with high-pressure pump systems, foam tank, and rapid response equipment. Teknik Tanker manufactures firefighting water tankers in capacities from 3.5 to 12 tons for municipalities and industrial facilities.
Dual-Pressure Pump System
The key differentiator of firefighting tankers is their dual-pressure pump system. The high-pressure stage delivers 250 L/min at 40 bar for precision response, while the low-pressure stage provides 1,600–3,000 L/min at 8 bar for wide-area coverage. PTO-driven pumps via split shaft transmission are powered by the vehicle engine.
Foam and Response Equipment
Firefighting tankers include a foam tank alongside the water tank. The foam system provides effective suppression for flammable liquid fires (Class B). Standard equipment includes hose reel, quick-response lance for first response, various diameter pressure hoses, and coupling adapters.
Tank Construction
Firefighting tanker tanks are manufactured from ST-37 / ST-52 sheet steel or AISI 304L / 316L stainless steel. Tank profiles are cylindrical or modified elliptical with internal baffles to prevent liquid surge. Internal surfaces are coated with epoxy anti-corrosion paint.
Control System and Water Outlets
All water outlets (front, rear, side, and roof monitor) are managed via an electro-pneumatic control panel in the driver's cab. Vacuum-assisted automatic priming enables direct tank filling from fire hydrants, rivers, and lakes. Some models offer an optional remote-controlled roof monitor (water cannon).
